The internet was built for people. As artificial intelligence, automation, bots and synthetic identities become increasingly capable of acting like people, the internet needs a new kind of infrastructure — one that can recognize authentic human-origin participation without requiring people to surrender their identity, personal data or privacy.
What do we mean by Human-Origin Infrastructure?
A new, privacy-preserving, permissionless and neutral infrastructure layer designed to enable systems to recognize authentic human-origin participation — without centralized identity custody, biometric databases, surveillance architecture or the need to store personal information.
Why bring UU into the public when it is not yet built?
The objective is simple — to create an infrastructure that can support a more trustworthy digital environment for people while preserving the freedom, privacy and neutrality that the internet was built upon.
UU is designed around principles that are intentionally difficult to compromise, solely with the purpose of serving the public, as public-interest infrastructure to help distinguish human-origin content, information and participation from synthetic ones. A complementary and neutral layer for the internet that can co-exist with platforms and existing digital ecosystems.
The goal is to build UU with people, without shareholder benefits or ownership by a single company.

Prior R&D, Research & the UU Protocol
UU is the result of an extensive period of research, development and experimentation. Between 2018 and 2025, prior R&D was conducted under LinksUU Technology Solutions Ltd, UK, across multiple projects, approaches and architectural pivots.
That seven-year period provided the experimental and research foundation from which the current UU architecture emerged.
UU Protocol formally launched as a protocol direction in 2026.
The prior R&D remains part of the history of how UU came to exist.
